Facebook is a social networking site that makes it easy for you to connect and sharewith your family and friends online. Originally designed for college students, Facebook was created in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg while he was enrolled at Harvard University. By 2006, anyone over the age of 13 with a valid email address could join Facebook. Today, Facebook is the world’s largest social network, with more than 1 billion users worldwide.

Twitter is a free social networking microblogging service that allows registered members to broadcast short posts called tweets. Twitter members can broadcast tweets and follow other users’ tweets by using multiple platforms and devices. Tweets and replies to tweets can be sent by cell phone text message, desktop client or by posting at the Twitter.com website.

3. Instagram

Instagram is a mobile photo-sharing application and service that allows users to share pictures and videos either publicly or privately on the service, as well as through a variety of other social networking platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Flickr. Originally, a distinctive feature was that it confined photos to a square shape, similar to Kodak Instamatic and Polaroid SX-70 images, in contrast to the 4:3 aspect ratio typically used by mobile device cameras. In August 2015, version 7.5 was released for mobile devices, allowing users to upload media captured in any aspect ratio, but not at full size.[10] Users can also apply various digital filters to their images. In June 2013, Instagram added support for videos, allowing prerecorded square standard definition resolution clips of up to 15 seconds to be shared; later updates introduced support for widescreen resolutions at 360p and longer recording times for either pre-recorded (up to one minute per video, or up to 10 minutes with a multi-video post) or disappearing live videos (up to one hour).

you can use blogs for everything from updating your friends and family about your life, giving your own advice column, discussing your political views, or relating your experience in a topic of interest. You can host blogs with multiple contributors, or you can run your own solo show. You can even use Blogger to make your own podcast feeds.

2. WordPress

WordPress is an online, open source website creation tool written in PHP. But in non-geek speak, it’s probably the easiest and most powerful blogging and website content management system (or CMS) in existence today.

3. Tumblr

Tumblr debuted in 2007 as part blogging tool, part microblogging tool, and part social community. Tumblr was acquired by Yahoo! in 2013. Until then, Tumblr did not include ads of any kind that would clutter Tumblelogs, but that changed and you can expect to see more and more monetization happening as Yahoo! tries to drive revenue from Tumblr.

Each user has his or her own Tumblelog where they can publish short posts of text, images, quotes, links, video, audio, and chats.

You can even reblog a Tumblr post that was published on another user’s Tumblelog with the click of the mouse, just as you might retweet content to share it on Twitter. Furthermore, you can like other people’s content on Tumblr rather than publish comments as you would on a traditional blog post. Tumblr is extremely easy to use and also works on every mobile operating system.
